What to do in the middle of winter?

by Kristin

So my 16th birthday is rapidly approaching in January, and I'm completely clueless as to what to do. I've seen so many HUGE ideas (like having a ball or something along those lines) and neither myself or my parents approve.

I'm planning towards 10 guests, all of which are girls, and I don't want to spend large amounts of money on decorations alone.

Having a simple spa/makeover party is a cute idea too but I've done that A LOT!

Any ideas that are low budget, fun (not little-kid like though) and aren't way over the top would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Well I will tell you what my friend did for her January party. Maybe you will pick up a few quick ideas from it!

My friend threw a party in January and it was simple, and yet SO much fun.

She made it a day long thing. It was on a Sunday and it started at 11 am and ended at 11 pm.

She made it this way so that people who couldn't come during the day, could come in the evening. And people who couldn't come in the evening, came in the day.

She decorated with white, sparklingly silver and baby blue to symbolize the winter colors.

When the day party guests arrived they just hung out, ate snacks and talked for awhile. The they made a gingerbread house, which may I tell you, it was horrible looking.

They decided to go sliding but she only had two sleds, so they made their own crazy carpets. So they went sliding, some sleds worked out and some didn't. It was funny.

They went back to her house to warm up. They had hot chocolate with whipped cream and other snacks.

The people who had to leave early gave my friend her gifts and took off. More people came and they walked over to the movie theater to see Avatar in 3d!!

When they fished up with that they walked back and ordered Chinese.

They birthday cake was then served and she had a sweet 16 candle ceremony. It was really sweet.

She opened even more gifts and the evening ended. It was so much fun for a simple winter party.
