what should i get?

i am turning 16 in october and i am planning on paying for my own party..its gonna be a semi formal party and i dont know what i should have the guys that are comin to wear..and what kinda dresses to tell the girls besides a semi formal..i also want music but i dont have enough money to get a dj..would just a cd player seem tacky?
