How to Bake the Greatest 3 Tier Sweet Sixteen Cakes
Home
Recently I baked my very first 3 tier sweet sixteen cakes, and it turned out beautifully! It looked so professional and like a very expensive store bought 3 tier birthday cake! So since this cake turned out so beautifully, and so simple to bake, I will teach you how to bake one!
Baking 3 tier sweet 16 cakes cost about ten dollars. Luckily you can purchase most of what you need at any local dollar store. You need the following:
* 3 cake pans, small medium and large * 2 boxes of cake mix * 2 containers of icing *1 box of food coloring * Icing squeeze bags (I’m sure there is a proper word for these) * Eggs
Tip: Using a tablespoon of baking powder in your cake mix will help keep it firm, and this is a good thing when making a three tier cake!
So the first thing that you will need to do is prepare the cake mix, and pour into the three cake trays. Bake them as instructed on the back of the cake mix boxes. When your cakes are finished baking, let them sit out on the counter to cool for awhile.
While you are waiting, begin to make your icing colors with the icing and food coloring. You only need a few dabs of each coloring! Put your colored icing into icing bags.
When you think the sweet sixteen cakes are nice and cool, paste your regular icing all over the largest cake, and sit the medium cake on top of it. The icing will help the medium cake sit easily on it. Since this is a light cake, you are safe for cake drooping!
Paste the regular icing all over the medium cake, and stick the smallest cake on top. Ice this cake as well.
For the cake I baked, I used one rectangular cake pan for the bottom, and two circles for the top. This made my cake look very cool and unique!
I also purchased this blue cake spray to spray over the icing, to give the cake an ocean like feel, since this was an “Under the Sea” themed sweet sixteen cake.
Decorate your cake with the color icing that you made, and purchase some cool and colorful looking candles! Using regular candles is important if you are having a
Sweet 16 Candle Ceremony.
At the bottom of the cake, I stuck gum balls all around it to represent rocks at the bottom of the sea.
When you are finished decorating your sweet 16 birthday cake, you are set! I would recommend baking the sweet sixteen cake the night before the party, just in case a mistake is made! This way, you will still have lots of time to spare.
