Sweet 16 in Sweden

by Ellen
(Sweden)

Hi. I live in Sweden and I'm turning 16 in November.

You don't usually throw sweet 16 parties in Sweden but I really feel that I want one. I love people watching me but I'm afraid that it will be too much.

You know, I have never been to a sweet 16 and don't know anyone who has. In Sweden it's forbidden to think that you are something or show that you are rich.

My family isn't rich but we're not poor either. I want a quite small party. I don't want to spend a lot of money and it don't have to big. I just want to be special for one night and have fun with my friends while the focus is on me.

I'll start upper secondery school soon which meens I will get a new class. I thought that maybe I can invite just my new classmates to the party and that could be an opportunity to get to know each other better.

We start school in August and my birthday is in November so we will not be strangers to each other even if we not know each other very well.

I don't have many other friends who I really want to come so I think it's a good idea.

I think it would be best if we were at my place. I don't live in a big house and at my birthday it's normally snowing outside. In the class we will be 25-30 pupils- do you think it will be too tight?

I told my mom that I wanted to celebrate my birthday a bit more this year today and she just laught- and then I didn't even mentioned that I wanted it to be live a sweet 16 party:o

I'm not that girl who parties a lot but I think it's fun. What do you do with you're parents when you throw a sweet 16?

No way my parents will leave the house! At MTV, the parents always are there but I think that may be kind of weird because maybe you got some embarrassing gifts or want do play "truth or dare" or something.

My last question is about alcohol. I don't drink and I don't want my guests to do that either but I'm afraid they will bring alcohol.

I've never thrown a party and I don't want what to expect. You have heard so much about gatecrasher and I really don't want people to steal things or destroy my house and my party.

Thank you for reading my story because I think I really need some help;) xx
