by Megan
(Saint Petersburg Florida)

HI my name is Megan, and i will be turning 16 in about 6 months. My theme is candy land, but I'm not into like the girly type things.

I want the party to have an edge (maybe with black, like a candy land gone bad... lol.)

But you know what i mean! Do you have any ideas? I would love to here them.

I'm also having this party in my back yard. My back yard is a porch and a screened in pool..=]=]=]=]

Thankz so much!

Sincerely,
Megan

Hey Megan,

Great idea! Here are a few ideas I have come up with for your theme.

If you are thinking about throwing a theme like the GAME Candy Land, you can.....

Decorate with black decorations (black balloons streamers etc) but have tons of colorful candies. Have a candy buffet with a black table cloth, vases filled with different candies.

Buy a large psychedelic colorful wall poster and glue candies to it, according to colors. Try to match the candies to the colors. This will made a 3 dimensional candy universe coming out of your wall!

This may take a bit of work and patience, but it really turns out. You can use large and small candies, and try not to miss any gaps in the poster.

This could also make a cool prize at the end out your party if you decide on playing any games.

You can throw a real life candy land game with different objectives.

You can also just decorate like the game board, making large blocks on the floor of your party like the game, either using colorful pieces of bristle board paper for each square box, or you could make the blocks all black.

You could also consider a frozen over candy land, where everything is icy looking or black.

Using lots of chocolate is great too. Chocolate is dark and will keep to your dark party theme look. You can find chocolate mouse fountains at party shops.

For a funny effect, why not bake your own gingerbread men with evil grins and funny facial features.

If you are thinking of a candy theme party... check out my candy land party page!

You can play around with some of the ideas and create the party with less of a ?girly girl? edge.

Make your own pinatas! These are great decorations and you can design some pretty creepy looking candy land characters with your own twist. You can also buy these at party supply stores.

I always get a kick out of the pinatas I see at stores. Most are made for children, but it gives a hilarious edge to a party when there are loads of these funny looking pinatas hanging from your ceiling.

if you are thinking more of a Charlie and the chocolate factory theme? you can have someone dress as an evil Oompa Loompa.

You can also get a friend to dress up as Willie Wonka, I find he is naturally pretty scary looking.

I hope these ideas help you out a bit!

Good luck!

Tiffany
